I began judo 3 years ago at the age of 22 and am a Brown Belt. Encouraged to start judo by my father (Roy Wain) it is a sport that we are able to do together. I travel around to different judo clubs in the UK and had the opportunity to train with Kayla Harrison, USA two times Olympic Champion - London & Rio). I have been to Wakefield in the USA to train with Jimmy Pedro (USA Bronze Olympic medallist). I regularly compete here in the UK achieving ranking points which placed me at number 21 in the country in 2016.
I started judo at the ripe old age of 54 and I am currently a brown belt. My interest in judo was inspired
on reading the book "The Pyjama Game" written by Mark Law who began judo late in life and have now enjoyed the sport for 6 years.
I like to travel around the country to different clubs with my daughter (Charlotte Wain) we have also visited Spanish and American Clubs and have trained with Gemma Gibbons (British 2012 silver Olympic medallist).
I compete on a regular basis, securing a place in British Masters Squad in 2015/16. and in 2016 competed in the World Veterans Championship in Florida, USA
I am a 3rd Dan black belt and started judo in 1974 at Chichester Judo Club - the warm up involved running around the streets for half an hour barefoot. I have trained in Germany, Australia and the USA.
I fought in the European Masters and the Open in Dublin and got a silver medal. I have received a bronze medal twice at the British Master Championships and in 2016 achieved a gold medal. I have coached juniors and seniors for 10 years and my son and daughter also have taken up the sport.
